Digitization Station

 Digitizaton Station

Tell your story

We are all about telling stories, and our digitization station can help you do just that. We'll show you how to use the equipment to digitize old media and then you can work independently to complete your project.

Free with a library card registered at the North Vancouver City Library.

Using the digitization station

Step 1: Orientation

Before your first use of the digitization station you will need to get a brief orientation from our TechConnect staff — see the "Request an orientation" button below. After that, you can book the station to work independently.

Step 2: Request a booking

  1. Review the booking policies (below).
  2. Check the station availability calendar (below).
  3. Fill out a booking request form (below) — give us a first choice date and a backup just in case.
  4. We will get back to you within 24 hours. Please note that your booking is not confirmed until you hear back from us.

Step 3: Arrive for your Booking

Check in at the third floor desk with one piece of photo ID (and your library card, if you haven't pre-booked). If you are more than 10 minutes late for your booking it will be cancelled and the time slot opened to other customers.

Please bring a USB Flash Drive (memory stick) or an external hard drive for saving your files. During the COVID-19 pandemic we are unable to provide headphones. We ask that you bring your own headphones, as sound from the computer speakers carries outside the walls of the digitization station even when turned to low.

Booking policies

General booking policies:

  • All bookings are on a first-come, first-served basis and require at least 24-hours’ notice.
  • Must be 10 years of age or older.

Help & training

During your orientation

Orientation covers policies and procedures for using the digitization station. TechConnect staff will tailor your orientation to the primary format you want to digitize and go over the basics of the creation software required. You can book follow-up appointments for orientations on other formats.

During your booking

Third floor staff can answer basic questions, but it is expected that you will know how to use the equipment and software you need for your project. If you need further help, please book a TechConnect session, or use one of our tutorials below. Note that during the COVID-19 pandemic staff support is limited due to social distancing requirements.
