Event overview

December 3, 2025

5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

This sewing class is for all ages: adults are welcome to attend on their own or bring younger people along with them to sew together.

Learn to sew a reusable drawstring gift bag using City Library's sewing machines. Drawstring bags make wrapping unusual-sized gifts as easy as 1-2-3, and you can use them again and again.

This project is suitable for beginners or experienced sewists who want to practice their skills: we'll learn to attach a basic lining and sew around square corners.

Registration is required and supplies will be provided. All participants must be 13 years of age to use a sewing machine on their own. If you want to bring your own supplies, they will need to be approved by staff.

Please note: The library sewing machines can be operated without the use of a foot pedal by using the stop/start button instead.

We have Janome 2030 QDC-B sewing machines and Janome DC-G sewing machines. Learn more about these machines, and about the library's sewing machine safety policy
