Learn to sew a book sleeve with NVCL's sewing machines. Book sleeves are really handy for keeping your favourite books safe while you travel, protecting the covers and corners from all the other items in your backpack or purse.

This project is beginner-friendly: we'll learn a few skills like attaching a basic lining and sewing around square corners.

Registration is required and supplies will be provided. All participants must be 13 years of age to use a sewing machine on their own. If you want to bring your own supplies, they will need to be approved by staff.

Please note: The library sewing machines can be operated without the use of a foot pedal by using the stop/start button instead.

We have Janome 230 QDC-B sewing machines and DC-G sewing machines. More information about these machines, along with the library's sewing machine safety policy, can be found here.
