Study space

Please note: masks must be worn in the library's study spaces. (Exemptions listed here)

Dr. Paul Singh individual study hall

  • This room is located on the second floor
  • Available at all times during regular library hours
  • This room has been designated exclusively for individual study
  • Handicapped-accessible
  • Each of the study stations has ample room for materials
  • Each of the stations has two electrical outlets
  • Seating is also available along the south wall, also with outlets

2nd floor study rooms A and B, Don Preston boardroom

The library has two quiet study rooms in the northwest corner of the second floor, and a boardroom on the 2nd floor against the south wall, adjoining the Singh Room.

Priorities for use:

Both study rooms A and B, and the Don Preston boardroom, are prioritized for online and interactive uses, such as:

  • Online learning, workshops and exams
  • Online meetings and appointments with medical, legal, financial and social services
  • Online job interviews, meetings and educational group work
  • Online social connections with friends and family

Study rooms A and B and the boardroom are bookable. Booking before the day of intended use is only available for prioritized uses (see list above). For non-prioritized uses, the rooms can only be booked in person on the day of the intended use.

Booking guidelines

  • Study rooms A an B and the Don Preston boardroom may be booked for a minimum of 30 minutes and for up to 3 hours.
  • One booking per week per person
  • Maximum 2 upcoming bookings at any one time
  • To comply with physical distancing rules, only one person can be in either Study room A & B or the boardroom at a time

Bookings can be made in person at a service desk, or they can be made by phone if you are a prioritized user (see list above) at 604-998-3450.  Please review the calendar below to determine available times. A buffer of at least 15 minutes between bookings is needed in order for staff to clean the study room.

General Use Guidelines

  • Present your library card at the second floor service desk at the start of your booking. This will be held at the desk during your booking.
  • If you are more than 15 minutes late, we will assume you have cancelled and will make the space available for other customers.
  • Use the hand sanitizer provided prior to entering.
  • Study rooms A & B and the boardroom are not soundproof—please keep noise levels low within the room.
  • For Study Rooms A & B, the doors will lock behind you. If you leave the study room please close the door and request staff to open the door again when you return. The boardroom doors do not lock.
  • The Library is not responsible for lost or stolen items in the study rooms or the boardroom. Please take your valuables with you.
  • Please check in at the desk when your booking is completed and retrieve your library card.

The library reserves the right to modify or cancel any bookings.

The group study space on the 3rd floor is currently closed.
