Volunteer Opportunities for Teens

These opportunities are for teens in grades 8 to 12. Volunteering opportunities can fill up quickly. These opportunities are first-come, first-served. We will do our best to accommodate your requests! Please note, all library volunteers who work with the public will undergo a mandatory criminal background check.

Here are the Winter 2019 volunteer opportunities:


Want to help with a variety of Library events? Volunteer to help with Library events, like our Kilby Memorial Teen Art Contest, Movie Nights in the Plaza, teen room parties and more. You get to choose which events to sign up for. Events schedule TBA.

Homework Help - FULL

Love learning new things and teaching others? Be a tutor for pre-teens and teens. Volunteer Mondays 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. and some flexible hours TBA. Homework help will run from April 29th – June 10th.

Teen Advisory Council (TAC) - FULL

Want to develop your leadership skills while having fun helping to plan and promote Library programs and events for teens? You will get a chance to provide input on teen services and materials at the Library. Attend meetings twice monthly on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. Our first meeting is January 15, 2019.

Teen Art and Promotion Group (TAP) - FULL

Do you love art and/or graphic design? Join the Library's Teen Art and Promotion Group to put your creative skills to work. You will get to create artwork and promote Library programs. You may also get involved with curating teen artwork in the Library. Attend meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Our first meeting is January 24, 2019

Read Along - FULL

Want to help children build their reading skills? Volunteer to be a Reading Buddy for children in the library. English reading and speaking skills are required for this volunteer opportunity. You must be able to commit to volunteering each Wednesday from January 23 to February 27, 2019.

Lego Robotics - FULL

Lego Robotics: Want to be a mentor to pre-teens learning about Lego Robotics in the library? No prior experience with Lego or robotics is needed. Part 1 is full but we are still accepting applications for Part 2 (Feb 26, Mar 5, 12) and Part 3 (April 16, 23, 30).
