Community member translates digital “Learn to drive smart” guide into Farsi

The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC)’s preeminent digital driving manual, “Learn to Drive Smart” has been generously translated from English to Farsi thanks to kindhearted community member, Golam-Hossein Davani.

The driving manual is one of the library’s most-circulated physical items. Now, a PDF version in Farsi is available for library users to download. The digital translation is based on ICBC’s 2021 print edition. There are no wait times or borrowing limits to access the PDF.

“Though this is not an official ICBC publication, a translated version has been frequently requested by our Farsi-speaking community members,” Walter Zicha, head of acquisitions and collections, said. “We’re so pleased to be able to offer this digital edition to expand the accessibility and meet the increasing demand for this publication.”
