Study stars is a dedicated group of passionate teenagers committed to giving back to the community. Fueled by our love of learning and diverse skills and strengths, we offer tutoring to youth in grades 4 – 7 in various subjects, from mathematics to language arts. We tailor our approach to each student. Beyond academic support, our goal is to create a nurturing environment where children can develop a genuine passion for learning. By collaborating with City Library, we aim to establish a lasting impact on education in our community, fostering a love for knowledge and academic success among the aspiring minds we have the privilege to guide.

Introducing the tutors:

Nicola

My name is Nicola and I am a grade nine student attending Carson Graham. In elementary school, my art was chosen to be put on display at the Gordon Smith Art Gallery multiple times. I am certified in CPR/AED level c. I have been in choir since grade 5 and often help my friends with homework or studying. I have multiple younger cousins which I believe has given me experience with helping younger kids as well as looking after them, giving me experience for this.

Reese

I’m a grade 9 student at Carson Graham Secondary. I have lots of experience with kids through lunch monitoring, camp counselling, babysitting, coaching, and more. Academically I enjoy Social Studies and English the most, but I am comfortable in all subjects. I spend lots of time at the library and love to contribute to the learning environment there!

Lida

Hello, I'm Lida, a ninth-grade student at Carson Graham. I am proud to hold awards in both math and science at my school, and for three consecutive years, I have ranked in the top three in the Waterloo math contests. While I enjoy all subjects, my true passion lies in math and science, and I particularly love working with kids. With previous experience in tutoring and babysitting, I am thrilled at the prospect of working with a new group of kids, guiding and supporting them so they can discover their own passion for learning!
