recording station

We are now creating a new digital media experience on the 3rd floor. Soon you will be able to explore video and audio recording at the library, and we’ll have the equipment and software to help get you started.

What will I be able to do at the Recording Station?

  • Film a short video and create your own YouTube channel or a ‘vlog’, practice a job interview, create an audition tape, film a project for school or work!
  • Discover how to use sound and video equipment, including cameras, lights, and microphones.
  • Explore green screen and other backdrops to create special background effects.
  • Create and edit video, music, podcasts, and audiobooks.

Who will be able to use the Recording Station?

  • The recording station will be free to all who hold a library card, registered at North Vancouver City Library.
  • You will be able to book the station for up to three hours a day, up to a maximum of six hours per week.
  • Must be 13 years of age or older (or in high school). Those under 13 or not yet in high school must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • Phase 2: Equipment setup, testing, and staff orientations - April/May, 2018.
  • Phase 3: Official program and service launch June 19.

What kinds of equipment will be available?

  • Microphone kits, camcorders, tripods, and lighting available to borrow.
  • 'Chroma' green, black, and white screens/backdrops available in the room.
