Borrow a device

We lend Chromebooks, iPads, Kobo e-readers, and, for in-library use only, device chargers and CD/DVD drives.

Borrow and renew

Read about our borrowing policy, loan periods, borrowing limits, fees, renewals, holds, and returns.

Community information

Posters/flyers, etc., submitted by the community can be found in the lobby of the library, on the inner curved shelving to the right (east) of the entrance. The library will only put out non-profit, non-denominational, and non-political material.

Computer and wireless access

The Library offers computers equipped with Internet access and Microsoft Office software, and provides a wireless network for customers using their own wireless devices.

Computer classes

NVCL offers a wide array of computer classes, from operating systems such as Windows 10 and Mac OS X, to online security and social media. These classes are hosted virtually on Zoom. Click the above link to see the current class listing.

Creation Stations

There is much to learn about digital media technology, and not all of us have access to this technology or know where to begin. NVCL's Creation Stations can be your starting point. Think of us as your 'community digital learning academy', where you can preserve, record, edit and share your stories.


This service is available at the Welcome Desk. Customers should have a City Library card. Registration is free. We fax 1-sided pages, only. You can convert all 2-sided pages at the copy stations on the second or third floor. You must fill out and sign the library’s fax cover page. You will not be charged for the transmission of this page. You must be present during your fax transmission until the OK/Fail confirmation page is printed out. We accept payment by cash or credit/debit cards

Interlibrary loans

If you can't find a book that you are looking for in our library, you can search for it in the illume online catalogue and request it via interlibrary loan.

Borrow a Kill a Watt kit to measure how much energy is being used by your household appliances.

Library small grants

Library Small Grants are targeted at promoting cross-cultural connection among North Vancouver City residents.

Microfilm and microfiche reader

Our third floor microform reader is The microform scanner is available for viewing the newspaper archives. It is located on the 3rd floor, is free to use, and can be booked for up to 1 hour at a time.

NVCL store

We sell book bags, mugs, flash drives and vacuum flasks. Please ask for them at the Welcome Desk.


Underground pay parking below the library is available via the 14th Street access from Chesterfield Avenue.

Pay fees

You can pay fees through our 'Borrow and Renew' page. NVCL does not charge fines on overdue materials, but please note that we are still charging the replacement cost for lost items and long-overdue (6 weeks) items assumed to be lost.

Seed library

Our seed club lends seeds to the public, free of charge, with an aim to create greener spaces, encourage people to grow their own food, and facilitate community learning.

Spokes 'N' Words

Spokes ’N’ Words is a tricycle with a cabinet on the rear where users will be able to check-in and check-out library books and materials, get a library card, participate in storytimes, and receive information about library programs and services. Spokes ’N’ Words features an umbrella for sun and rain protection as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot for on-the-spot tech questions. It runs on more than just sentences; Spokes ’N’ Words is powered by both its rider, and an e-assist motor to help the book bike up and down those notoriously steep North Vancouver hills!

Study space

The Library has a large silent study room, two bookable quiet study rooms and a bookable boardroom.
