Pop-up STEAM Events


Make 2019 the Summer of STEAM! This summer, City Library is partnering with several organizations to offer STEAM programming for all ages.

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. It is an educational approach encouraging inquiry, dialogue, critical thinking and problem solving. Students engaged in STEAM take thoughtful risks, participate in experiential learning, and embrace collaboration. These are the innovators, educators and learners of the 21st century.


Thursday, Aug. 29 — Paper Spinners

For children ages 6 - 12. Make a fun Paper Spinner and learn the basics of colour theory – primary colours, secondary colours and the colour wheel.

Thursday September 12  Circuit Flowers

Participants will make their own beautiful Circuit Flowers and learn about the concepts of chromatography and circuits at the same time. For children ages 9-13.

Wednesday September 18 LEGO WeDo

Build a robot out of LEGO and program it to move with an iPad. You’ll have fun building with LEGO and learn some basic coding skills! For children ages 7-10.

Get started with Scratch Jr., a fun, free app that allows you to create your own interactive stories and games.
