Stones on the Plaza

Stones on the Plaza

This public art project represented an opportunity for the community to donate to the North Vancouver City Library’s special programs while helping to enrich the civic plaza with an imprint of the community. Donations of $2,500 and above are recognized by permanent stone carved pieces, forming a poetic overlay at the entry plaza into the library.

As you walk along the plaza you will encounter beautiful engraved abstract images carved into blue stone, parts of a magnificent tree, a reference to the Tree of Knowledge. Dappled amongst these evocative images are words – quotes selected by the donors. While now complete, this program helped to raise thousands of dollars that supported, among other things, the library's children's garden, Imagination Tree, and decorative wall mural, all located in the children's department.
