Year of Science

Year of Science at City LibraryCity Library is injecting a full dose of science-based programming into its calendar this year. The library’s Year of Science will help shape the many free programs, workshops and author talks the library regularly produces using science as the lens to inspire creativity and discovery.

Programs will help the community learn and practise scientific principles used the world over: data analysis, close observation, pattern identification and critical thinking.

Citizen science

Become a citizen scientist with our biodiversity project

Citizen Science is the growing worldwide phenomenon where regular people participate and make real contributions to science and scientific understanding.

Want to become a part of this growing movement? Join in with the City Library biodiversity observation project! Earlier this year we held workshops where we learned how to use iNaturalist — a website and app used to observe and identify wildlife in nature. We observed and logged data on the biodiversity in our neighbourhoods and now we're ready to report on the findings. in the final workshop we will discover the results of the project and we will develop our data analysis skills.
