City Library's Takeout service provides contactless pickup of library materials to the community during this challenging time. Customers can submit their orders for materials and staff will call to schedule pickup when orders are ready.

COVID-19 closure

The library building is closed until further notice

  • All library programs and events have been suspended.
  • Home delivery service and outreach programs have also been suspended.
  • Room bookings are not available.
  • The book return slot is still open at this time.

We are working with the City of North Vancouver and following the recommendations of  provincial agencies to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Late fees & holds

  • Late or overdue fines have been eliminated as of May 11, 2020. Existing late fines will be waived. More information is available in this news posting.
  • Due dates will be extended to June 30, 2020 or later.
  • There will be no fees for holds not picked up. Current holds will be extended to June 30 or later and be available for pick-up when we re-open. You can also use our Takeout service to get your Available Holds earlier.

Get a digital library card

Call us at 604-998-3450 or fill out an application for a digital library card to start accessing our catalogue of ebooks, e-audiobooks, databases and more. A phone number is required so staff can issue you your digital library card. If you already have an existing library card of ours starting with 23287 and you are a resident of the CIty, then you already have full access to all our digital resources.


Although the library building is currently closed, our digital doors are always open. Check out our resources for using the library in your living room.
