To participate in today's information world, everyone needs to have some basics in using technology. Through our coaching program, our commitment to digital literacy in the community is a direct reflection of this understanding.
Our TechConnect program provides free, private 1-on-1 coaching sessions that usually last between 30 - 45 minutes, and take place in the TechConnect coaching room on the third floor of the library.
There is no limit to the number of appointments a person can have, as long as it does not prevent others from taking advantage of the service, and does not exceed our knowledge base (in other words, we have to feel capable of helping you effectively). If we do not feel we can accommodate your request, we will try to refer you to other resources that might assist you.
What kinds of coaching can I receive?
Examples of what we help people with include how to:
- Getting started with your computer, e-reader or tablet
- Creating and using an e-mail account
- Formatting documents
- Using the Internet
- Using Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
- Downloading library audiobooks and ebooks
- Using social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
- Starting a blog
- Communicating using Skype
- Managing digital photos
We are not able to help people with things like setting up a dating profile, income tax submission, personal banking, or completing a resume for you. There are other resources available to assist with these things and we are glad to make suggestions if needed.
